Both improve skin quality. Both involve tiny micro-injections. So how do you choose between skin boosters and polynucleotides? Here is the clinical answer.
The simple framing. Skin boosters are micro-injections of stabilised hyaluronic acid that primarily improve hydration and luminosity. Polynucleotides are a regenerative bio-stimulator that improves the underlying biology of the skin, encouraging cellular repair, fibroblast activity and collagen production.
What each does best. Skin boosters excel at improving hydration, fine line softening and surface glow. They are particularly effective on the neck, décolletage, lower face and back of the hands. Polynucleotides excel at improving skin quality at a cellular level. They are transformative for the under-eye area, for thin or sun-damaged skin, and for clients seeking long-term skin health improvements rather than immediate visible change.
Timeline. Skin boosters: visible glow within one to two weeks, full first-session result at four to six weeks, course of two to three sessions for best outcome. Polynucleotides: gentler initial change, full effect builds over 3 months as new collagen forms, course of two to three sessions three to four weeks apart.
Best for. Skin boosters are ideal for clients in their late twenties to mid-forties looking to improve hydration and prevent the loss of luminosity that comes with stress, ageing and modern living. Polynucleotides are ideal for clients with under-eye concerns, thin or damaged skin, or anyone investing in long-term skin health rather than chasing visible change.
Can you combine them? Yes, and we often do. A typical luxury skin-quality programme might include a polynucleotide course followed by skin booster maintenance every six months, layered with monthly Hydrafacial and a serious medical-grade homecare routine. The two treatments are complementary rather than competing.
How we decide at consultation. We assess your skin under magnification, discuss your priorities, and recommend the option (or combination) most likely to meet your goals over a 6 to 12 month timeline. There is no single 'better' treatment, only the right treatment for the right skin at the right time.
