If you are considering anti-wrinkle treatment for the first time, here is exactly what to expect, from the moment you book to the result you live with for the next three months.
The consultation. Every first-time client at Visage has a thorough consultation before any treatment. We assess your facial anatomy, your specific dynamic lines, your goals and, just as importantly, what you do not want changed. A good consultation lasts at least 30 minutes. If you are offered injection on the day of an initial enquiry without a proper conversation, that is a red flag.
The treatment itself. Anti-wrinkle injection takes 10 to 15 minutes. We use very fine needles and the discomfort is minimal, with most first-time clients describing it as a brief pinch rather than a pain. There is no anaesthetic required, and you can drive yourself home immediately afterwards.
What to do, and not do, for 24 hours. No lying flat (this can encourage spread of product to unintended muscles). No vigorous exercise, alcohol, or saunas. No facial massage, facials or laser. Tiny injection marks fade within an hour or two. Mild swelling at injection points is normal.
When you'll see results. First softening of dynamic lines becomes visible around day 3 to 5. Full effect at day 14. We always offer a two-week review at no additional cost, and this is the moment to refine the dose if your response is more or less than expected.
How long it lasts. Three to four months for most clients. Heavy exercisers tend to metabolise faster (sometimes every 10 to 12 weeks). Over time and with regular treatment, the underlying muscles become less hyperactive and many clients find they need treatment less frequently.
Our most important first-visit advice. Choose a practitioner who will under-treat you on your first appointment. Restraint is not inexperience. It is the mark of someone who understands the medicine. The patients who hate their first anti-wrinkle treatment are almost always the ones whose practitioner gave them too much, too soon. The patients who love it are the ones whose practitioner gave them just enough to see a difference at two weeks, then refined upward from there.
